Gov Scott signed SB 722, the Saving Dogs Bill.
In the past, a dog who was involved, in any way, with dog fighting was labeled a Dangerous Dog by state law. This unfairly targeted victims of cruelty.
Effective 7/1/2011, each dog can now be evaluated based on his/her temperament.
http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2011/0722/BillText/er/HTML contains the revised definition of "Dangerous Dog" in Florida.
The change in the definition is the removal of:
"1 (c) Has been used primarily or in part for the purpose of dog fighting or is a dog trained for dog fighting;"
